Considered to be one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year, the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship starts next month. The elite line up of professionals and celebrities, includes eleven former winners of the World Series of Poker main event.
Executive vice president of NBC Sports, Jon Miller said, “We’ve got a great mix of celebrity participants and top poker pros, including veterans and newcomers, for this year’s National Heads-Up Poker Championship.”
Annie Duke, one of only six women participating in the tournament, rumoured to be appearing on next seasons Celebrity Apprentice, will join Jennifer Harman, Jennifer Tilly, Clonie Gowen, Vanessa Rousso and Selbst event.
Given the on-going law suit that Clonie Gowen has against Full Tilt Poker, many are expecting this tournament to be very interesting indeed.
Whilst most of the players have been named, there are still four places to be filled one from Full Tilt Poker, two from PokerStars, and a Caesar’s Palace tournament qualifier.
The tournament begins next Friday the 6th March and continues until the best of three finals on Sunday the 8th. NBC will televise the event on consecutive Sundays for six weeks starting on April 12th.
